Lesson Plan #4 Title:  Retelling what you are reading who, what

Performance Objective 4 - Students will be able to write down and show text evidence who the main character in the story is and what the problem is receiving a 2 out of 3 on the rubric (appendix A).

Resources or Materials Needed: Computer to show StorylineOnline.com, copy of written assessment. (appendix C).

Time: 1 hour 

Step 1: Pre-Instructional Activities: Students have now learned how to find the who and what and  retell it out loud showing comprehension of what they are reading. Students are shown the comprehension video from GoNoodle.com.

Step 2: Content Presentation: Teacher begins by explaining that now that the students can find who and the what and tell their partner. Today they will practice writing it down. Teacher will model the I do by  going to storylineonline.com finding a book and listening to the read aloud. Teacher will now show the students how to find the who and the what in the text that was just used from StoryLine and how to write it down on the assessment sheet. Students will then find a book on storyline  and complete the I do by writing it down on the assessment sheet.

Step 3: Learner Participation: Students will watch the teacher as she models the who and what using storyline.com. Students will complete the I do by writing down the who and what on the assessment sheet.

Step 4: Assessment: Step 4: Assessment: Students complete assessment form on their own for the teacher to check understanding (appendix C).

Step 5: Follow-Through Activities: Students can practice on their own during their independent reading time from their computer and write down on a sticky note the who and what.
